Where is Masters Surf School located?

The exact launch spot is near the main kitesurfing lagoon (often the well-known “Kite Village” area or the school’s private beach zone). Contact the school directly for precise meeting point and Google Maps link.

Do I need previous experience to take kitesurfing or windsurfing lessons?

No. Masters Surf School offers courses for absolute beginners, intermediate riders, and advanced surfers. Beginner lessons start with theoretical safety training, kite control on land, body dragging, and then board riding – all under certified instructors.

What is the best time of year for kitesurfing and windsurfing in Hurghada?

Hurghada offers consistent wind from March to November. The peak season for strong, steady thermal winds is from May to October (average 15–25 knots). Winter months (December–February) still have good days but lighter and less frequent wind. The school operates year-round.

What equipment is included in the lesson/rental price?

All lessons include: latest kite or sail rig, board, harness, helmet, impact vest, and (for kitesurfing) a safety leash. Wetsuits are provided in cooler months (Nov–March). You only need to bring swimwear, sunscreen, a towel, and sunglasses with a strap.

Can I use my own equipment?

Yes. You can bring your own kite, board, or windsurf rig. The school offers storage and launching assistance. A reduced “own gear” rental rate applies for using just the beach and rescue service – ask at reception.

What certifications do the instructors hold?

All instructors are IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) or VDWS certified for kitesurfing, and VDWS/ IWS for windsurfing. They have completed first aid and water rescue training, with years of local Red Sea experience.

How long does it take to become an independent kitesurfer?

Most beginners need 9–12 hours of lessons (spread over 3–4 days) to ride upwind safely. Some learn faster (6–8 hours) depending on fitness and wind conditions. Masters offers packages with guaranteed progression steps.

Is there a minimum age?

For kitesurfing: minimum 12 years old (with parental consent). For windsurfing: from 8 years old with appropriate small gear. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult on the beach.

Do you offer group or private lessons?

Both. Private lessons (1 student / 1 instructor) give fastest progression. Group lessons (max 3 students per instructor) are more social and budget-friendly. Private coaching is recommended for first-timers or those correcting bad habits.

What happens if there is no wind on my booked day?

If conditions are unsafe or no wind (rare in peak season), the lesson is rescheduled or a full refund is given for that unused session. The school monitors forecasts and will notify you the evening before. Theory and land training can still happen on low-wind days.

Is the spot suitable for complete beginners?

Absolutely. The main spot is a shallow, flat-water lagoon (waist‑deep at most), with no waves and a sandy bottom – ideal for first kite drags and board starts. Advanced riders can go to the outside reef for stronger wind and small swell.

Do I need to book in advance?

Highly recommended, especially from March to November. Book at least 1–2 weeks ahead via WhatsApp, email, or their website. Walk-ins are accepted only if space and wind permit.

Can non-surfers (family/friends) come to the beach?

Yes. There is a beach club area with sunbeds, umbrellas, a small café, and shade. Spectators can watch the lessons from the shore. No fee for accompanying persons unless they use facilities (sunbeds/ drinks).

Do you offer accommodation + surf packages?

Masters Surf School cooperates with nearby hotels and eco‑lodges. Ask for a “stay & surf” package that includes daily lessons, equipment storage, and airport transfer. Discounts apply for bookings of 5+ nights.

What safety measures are in place?

Rescue boat on standby at all times.
Radio communication between instructors and shore.
Defined no‑go zones (swimmers, boat channel).
Mandatory helmet and impact vest for kitesurfing.
First aid kit and emergency oxygen on site.

Do you teach in languages other than English?

Instructors speak English, Arabic, German, Russian, and some French. Lesson materials (safety cards) are available in 6 languages.

How do I pay?

Cash ( euros, dollars) and all major credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) are accepted. Bank transfer or PayPal possible for advance deposits. No extra fees for card payments.

What is your cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the lesson. If you cancel later due to illness (medical proof), you receive a credit for another day. No‑shows are charged in full.
